I need a quick favor.
Anyone who knows anything about the venerable .22 Winchester Magnum can feel free to fill up the comments section of this post with suggested ammo for a Jesus Gun (a word, by the by, that I learned in this post by Cowtown Cop; a must read!). Strictly for a back-up gun, but I'd like a good stout - yes, I know it's just a .22, but it's better than a .44 in the safe;) - load for last-ditch defense.
Help? Please? Is this thing on?

Winchester's .22 Mag SXT load is the most versatile. Great penetration and expansion. Not as zippy as other loads, but has more momentum thanks to the heavier bullet. Expands best from what I've seen on small critters, and I've tried all sorts of loads.
Barring that, the CCI +V loads.
I have to second the CCI. My CC weapon is a Walther P22 (and can I say, "just" a .22 my ass. Let me shoot you with it and then we'll talk :P ) I use nothing but CCI, mainly b/c I find it to be one of the most reliable loads.
I use Hornady TAP ammo in my NAA .22 Mag mini-revolver. If firing it in the dark, close one eye, because the jet of flame from the muzzle will blind you. I haven't done any personal testing with it as far as expansion and penetration, but considering how other Hornady Tap ammo is...
I'd recommend that if you can hide it, get something a hair larger than the NAA, and something that doesn't require you to cock it every time. If you can get two or three rounds off of .22WMR in someone's face, they'll leave you alone from sheer shock value. The NAA is just a little slow on the follow-up rounds, at least for me.
