First, allow me to point out that Ronni Chasen's murder was heinous, and her murderer is a coward who will ultimately face justice for his crime one way or another.
That being said, the overminds at CNN are here to inform you underlings that the aforementioned murderer used at least one hollow point bullet to perpetrate his crime.
That's not just casually mentioned in the story; it's the damned headline. Not that it's the point of the story, though. The story mentions hollow points a couple times, but doesn't that headline just send shivers down your spine? It should, because that is the point.
It's almost like saying that, since the killer went the extra mile and grabbed a box of Silvertips instead of the much friendlier and more politically correct White Box, he super-extra-mega-murdered her. She's be much less dead now if he'd just used some round-nose bullets, but now she's completely FUBAR because of those damnable hollow points. It's a good thing the killer didn't use Hydra-Shoks, or the bullets would have killed her and everyone within a 100-yard radius. God forbid the guy found some of those uber-evil Black Talons, or he would have mowed down every child in an orphanage times every round fired.
Jeez, y'all. Hollow points. The money quote from the article?
Hollow-point bullets are controversial because the slug is designed to expand after it enters a body, causing greater damage to tissue than a solid bullet.
You know what? You're half-right, and I'm not going to defend the use of hollow point bullets by trying to deny that fact. Yes, hollow points expand when they enter a body, and the result is a larger wound tract. A bonus result? The other half that got left out? A bullet that expends a metric fuck-ton of its energy expanding (and slowing the fuck down) as opposed to penetrating and continuing on until it exits the body and maintains a velocity that could allow it to penetrate another body.
I'm so sick of pretending that guns can't/won't be used for Eeevil, or that bullets, once launched - intentionally or not - won't do damage. It's a bullshit argument. Who gives a flying fuck at a rolling donut whether the the shooter used FMJ, JHP, Teflon-coated, depleted uranium, or unicorn horn bullets? Ronni Chasen is dead, and that is a tragedy. Let's focus on catching the fuckin bad guy now, k?

Feel free to drop a line. You don't have to keep it clean - God knows, I won't - but keep it above the belt.
