She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds 'till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.

Trippin the Geek Fantastic

I've been neglecting the old blog here (for all three or four of you that read it). I've been busy. With Dragon Age II coming out on March 8, I see even less of the outdoors than I already did. Hell, if my kid wasn't in horseback riding lessons the only time I'd see the light of day would be going to and from work.

If that isn't bad enough, I now have a backup plan for when my selfish family hogs up the TV the TV is in use. I bought Neverwinter Nights several months ago, but when my PC would barely run Icewind Dale, I never loaded Neverwinter Nights. Well, the new job I got came with several perks, not the least of which (by a damn sight) is the mac-daddy of MacBooks. My copy of Neverwinter Nights is for Windows. I had heard of running Windows versions of software on Macs through programs like Parallels Desktop and VMWare, but never games.

Well, what did I have to lose?* I installed Neverwinter Nights Diamond on Windows 7 in VMWare on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.6 (10.6.7 as of this morning; NN should still be okay). Had to pull some karate to make it run (run as admin, back-end a patch, slaughter a goat, pray to Mecca, but it works).

I am geek. Hear me roar.

*Don't answer that.

Feel free to drop a line. You don't have to keep it clean - God knows, I won't - but keep it above the belt.
