She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. ... she never wounds 'till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.

How I Spent My 9/11

As the politicos and celebrities wax poetic about what they were doing, where they were, and how they felt on that fateful morning 10 years ago, I was busy.

As the news was overrun with stories about memorials, ceremonies, and flashbacks, I wasn't noticing.

While the rest of the nation, according to everything on TV and the internet, was mourning/remembering 9/11/01, I was not.

I searched for a place to live because I'm building a house. I went and saw my builder to check on the custom shower we're crafting. I spent US Dollars on Texas Seasoned Leg Quarters from HEB, and took them to my next-door-neighbor's house. We grilled chicken and potatoes while the women-folk, in shorts and sandals, made macaroni & cheese and a salad. We drank beer, and watched football.

Oh, and I was carrying a gun the whole time.

And that is how I spent the 10th anniversary of the most horrific event to take place on American soil in my lifetime. I lived.

Feel free to drop a line. You don't have to keep it clean - God knows, I won't - but keep it above the belt.
